5 Studios Every Dancer Should Visit in Singapore!

Despite being a small country, Singapore’s dance scene is  heckuva vibrant one. Whether you’re a young, aspiring dancer in need of some guidance or an international dancer looking for places to groove, here are five dance studios in Singapore you should definitely visit!

5) Legacy Dance Co.

Established in 2014, Legacy Dance Co. started from  a dream by it’s founder Chan Jia Jun and close friends he made at his Polytechnic hip hop dance club. Although they currently only have one studio at the moment, the instructors do not hold back from teaching a wide variety of dance genres. From urban choreography to contemporary, you’ll surely find a class to suit your own dance style!

Our Tip: If you’re a huge fan of urban choreography, this might be the place for you! Many of the instructors teach urban dance here and we LOVE ‘em. You can get there via King Albert Park Station (via Downtown Line).

Expected Damage: For a single class, student-members are expected to pay only $12 while non-student members of LDC are charged slightly higher at $15. If you feel like you need to try them all, why not go for their package classes? You can check it out on their website here: https://www.legacydanceco.com.sg/open-class/

Recognize is one of the more prominent dance studios in Singapore, being one of the organisers of huge sellout events like the annual #SummerJamDanceCamp where dance gurus from across the globe get invited to our little red dot to teach special classes in Singapore! Some of the previous dancers who came down specially for this event include Keone Madrid, Chris Martin, Akanen and many more! Also located downtown, Converge Studios (CV) is one of the more vibrant dance studios, simply because of the sheer variety of genres you can find here! From locking, jazz to hiphop, and yes – even K-Pop! This studio amassed a huge following since it’s opening in 2015. With three dance studio spaces under it’s belt, they can hold three classes of varying genres all at the same time! We don’t doubt why people love it here – the vibe and energy of the dancers can be felt even just from entering the reception area. Their website can fill you in on more details: https://convergestudios.sg/

Located in the heart of youth culture, O School is on the fourth floor of *SCAPE Singapore. This is regarded as the pioneer dance studio in Singapore, and hosts some of the biggest dance events such as the Super 24 Dance Competition (link it to the article). If you’re truly serious about dance, this would be the place for you. The school offers classes in three levels according to difficulty and complexity , with Level 1 being foundation classes to Level 3 being advanced. To book a class, you’ll have to purchase O School credits, with 1 credit = 1 class. At the moment, they only accept walk-in payments at their counter so make sure to turn up at least 30 minutes before your class starts to sort out administration!
